A truck driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a car in Kela Parkala on March 19, further raising concerns about the hazardous conditions on National Highway 169.

The incident unfolded when a woman on a scooter fell off due to a punctured tire while traveling near Canara Bank. As passersby rushed to assist her, a car traveling from Shivamogga towards Manipal was rear-ended by a soil transport truck. The impact caused the truck to veer off the road and tumble into a ditch. Tragically, those who had gathered to help the woman were also thrown off by the truck’s crash.

Local residents and commuters have expressed growing frustration over the frequent accidents in the region, with many citing the incomplete construction work on National Highway 169 as a primary cause. The unfinished roadwork has created dangerous conditions, making the highway prone to such accidents.

The public has called for immediate attention to the ongoing road construction and for measures to improve safety along this busy route.
