Udupi/Kundapur: The police have arrested two individuals, Santhosh Naik and Devaraj Sundar Mendon, in Mumbai in connection with an attempted robbery at a house in Thekkatte Manur. The accused had posed as police and IT officials to gain entry into the residence.
The investigation revealed that the group had planned to commit a robbery under the guise of officers. The arrested individuals have been remanded in judicial custody.
On January 25th, a group of 6-8 individuals arrived at the residence of Sudhindra Pujari in two vehicles, a Swift and an Innova, and attempted to force their way inside. The security company monitoring the CCTV system alerted the police, and a complaint was lodged at the Kota police station.
The case posed challenges for the police as the accused used disguises and did not use mobile phones, and the individuals involved did not know each other, complicating the investigation.
Following a thorough investigation involving searches in Bangalore, Maharashtra, and locally, the police identified the accused as being from Mumbai. The Innova car used in the crime was located and brought to the city. A police team spent 20 days in Mumbai gathering information and eventually apprehended the suspects.
The investigation was conducted by three teams led by SP Dr. K. Brahmavar, CI Diwakara PM, Kota PSI Gurunath B., and others.
Had the family opened the door, a large-scale robbery could have occurred, potentially resulting in loss of life, given the accused individuals’ criminal backgrounds. The security agency’s surveillance played a crucial role in preventing the robbery and uncovering the case.
