Jeena Meril, the 19-year-old woman at the center of an alleged abduction case, is set to appear before the high court on April 4 following a habeas corpus petition filed by her father, Godwin. This update was provided by Udupi Superintendent of Police Dr. Arun K.

The case originated on March 20 when Jeena’s parents lodged a complaint, prompting an abduction case at the Udupi Town police station. However, investigations revealed that Jeena and Mohammed Akram had applied for marriage at the Udupi sub-registrar’s office on March 19. Additionally, both had voluntarily left together and submitted a request for police protection.

On March 28, Jeena’s parents moved the High Court, seeking her whereabouts. During the hearing, Mohammed Akram and Jeena’s legal representatives assured the court that she would appear on April 4. SP Dr. Arun K confirmed that no specific directives had been issued to the police regarding the matter.

On the same day, Jeena’s mother, Merus Pushpalatha, held a press conference in Udupi, alleging that her daughter was abducted by Mohammed Akram, whom she claimed was already married. She further accused him of “love jihad” and expressed frustration over the police’s lack of action, stating that they had resorted to legal proceedings to bring the matter before the court.
