Udupi: A tragic incident was reported in Udupi on Friday, when a school van driver, en route to drop children off at school, passed away due to a suspected heart attack.

The deceased has been identified as Moydheen Bava (65), a resident of Neere Bailoor in Karkala.

While driving through Maruthi Veethika, Bava began experiencing severe chest pain. Demonstrating remarkable presence of mind, he safely halted the vehicle after spotting social worker Nityananda Volakadu nearby.

Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, Volakadu acted promptly, calling for an ambulance and escorting the driver to the Ajjarkad district hospital.

Despite the immediate medical attention, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.

Thankfully, the van driver’s decision to stop the vehicle in time prevented a potential road mishap, ensuring that the students onboard remained safe.

The local community has expressed deep sorrow over the loss, commending Moydheen Bava for his sense of responsibility and quick thinking during his final moments.
