Muslim communities across Udupi district marked Eid-ul-Azha (bakrid) with joy and devotion, gathering in large numbers to offer special Eid prayers at mosques and Eidgahs.
From Udupi city to Kaup, Brahmavar, Kundapur, Byndoor, Hebri, and Karkala taluks, worshippers dressed in traditional new attire and assembled early in the morning for congregational Namaz. In several mosques, separate arrangements were made to accommodate women for Eid prayers.
At Udupi Jamia Masjid, the Namaz was led by Maulana Abdur Rashid Nadvi, while at Anjuman Masjid, Maulana Inayutullah Razvi and Maulana Ubedar Rehman Nadvi of Brahmagiri Hashimi Masjid conducted the rituals.
A special Khutbah and Eid prayer were also held at Mulur Juma Masjid, the central mosque of the Udupi District Samyukta Jamaat, under the leadership of Hafil Muhammad Ashraf Sakhafi. In Kundapur, a vibrant Eid procession began from Kundapur Juma Masjid, culminating in a large prayer gathering at the Eidgah Maidan, led by Maulana Karar Hussain.
Clerics delivered messages emphasizing peace, social harmony, and responsible online behaviour. Maulana Ubedar Rehman Nadvi urged the community to refrain from sharing offensive content on social media. He also expressed concern over youth drug abuse, appealing to parents to guide their children away from such harmful habits.
To ensure public safety, heightened police security was deployed across the district.
