Udupi: A private college in Udupi fell victim to a ₹19.5 lakh fraud after being deceived with false promises of student enrollments. The case has been officially registered.
Netrajyoti Charitable Trust, which operates Netrajyoti College of Para-Medical Sciences and Netrajyoti Institute of Allied Health Sciences, was actively seeking admissions for the academic year when accused Kesham Vikram Singh approached its Manipur State Manager via WhatsApp.
Claiming he could secure 268 students from Manipur for para-medical courses, Singh convinced the institution to cover their train and flight expenses. Between September 19, 2024, and January 24, 2025, the college transferred ₹19,56,138 in multiple transactions. However, no students arrived, and Singh vanished.
A case has been filed at Sen Crime Police Station under Crime No. 12/2025, invoking Section 66(c) of the IT Act and Section 318(4) of the BNS. Investigations are ongoing.
