The Udupi Principal Civil and J.M.F.C. Court has granted conditional bail to an accused who received special hospitality at the Sri Krishna Matha by falsely claiming to be a Parliamentary Under Secretary to the Prime Minister.

The accused, Uday Kumar, had called the Diwan of Sri Krishna Matha, Nagaraj, claiming to be a Parliamentary Under Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office. He requested appropriate arrangements for himself and his family who were coming to visit the Udupi Sri Krishna Matha. Accordingly, on the 10th, they arrived in an Innova Crysta vehicle with “Government of India” written in red letters on the front bonnet and “Army” written on the rear glass. They were given all the facilities usually provided to Central Under Secretaries, including a special darshan.

Later, becoming suspicious of their behavior, the Diwan checked the Prime Minister’s Office website and discovered that the visitors had provided false information. Realizing they had been deceived by someone posing as a government official, a case was filed at the city police station for fraud against the Sri Krishna Matha.

The accused, Uday Kumar, has been granted conditional bail as he surrendered to the court. Lawyer Cherkadi Akhil B. Hegde from Udupi argued on behalf of the accused.
