Udupi: In a decisive step to combat tobacco abuse and protect youth, the District Administration has revoked business licenses of multiple shops that persistently violated tobacco regulations.
Despite frequent raids, penalties, and awareness drives by the District Tobacco Control Unit (DTC) and the COTPA Investigation Team, several shopkeepers continued to disregard the law under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).
The District Surveyor’s Office, in an official statement, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to creating a tobacco-free district, prioritizing public health and youth safety.
