Udupi: With repair work set to begin at Parkala Junction from Monday, September 15, the Udupi district administration has issued traffic re-routing instructions to ensure smooth vehicle movement.

Re-routing details

All vehicles travelling from Udupi towards Shivamogga, Hebri, and Karkala will be directed to use the alternative route: NH 169A → Eshwarnagara → Saralebettu → Kodange → Parkala market, where they will rejoin NH 169A.

Vehicles coming towards Udupi from Karkala, Shivamogga, and Hebri will continue to use the existing route along NH 169A.

The re-routing will be in effect from September 15 to September 21, covering the duration of the repair work.

Reason for the repair work

The Parkala stretch has been in poor condition, with roads completely worn out, causing inconvenience and safety risks for commuters. The repair work aims to restore the road and improve traffic safety and flow.

Administrative intervention

Udupi – Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary visited the stretch on Friday, September 12, and instructed the authorities to carry out repairs immediately with proper measures, highlighting the urgency of the project.

The administration has assured commuters that all necessary precautions will be taken to minimise disruption and ensure safe passage during the repair period.
