Udupi: The Lions Club of Udupi hosted a vibrant Attidonji Day celebration at Lions Bhavan, Brahmagiri, immersing attendees in the richness of Tulu traditions and seasonal festivities.
Renowned folk singer Vasanthi Kadtala and Lion Hariprasad Rai, Second Deputy District Governor of District 317C, graced the occasion as chief guests. Club President Alevoor Dinesh Kini presided over the event, alongside Secretary Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty, Treasurer Ramananda Nayak, and former District Governor Dr. A. Ravindranath Shetty.
The event opened with a soulful paddana (folk ballad) by Vasanthi Kadtala, setting a culturally rich tone for the evening. The Lion Lady Council delivered an energetic traditional dance performance, highlighting the depth of Tulu heritage and local folklore.
As a gesture of appreciation, folk artists Vasanthi Kadtala and Raghu Parava were felicitated during the ceremony for their contribution to preserving local art and music.
The evening concluded with a sumptuous traditional meal, featuring authentic Aati month delicacies such as Patrode, Payasa, Appa, Jalasi Leaf Gatti, and Urakoli Sukka. These seasonal dishes, unique to the Tulunadu region, brought a nostalgic and flavorful close to the festivities.
The event served not only as a celebration of the monsoon month Aati, but also as a tribute to the cultural vibrancy of Tulunadu, fostering community spirit and heritage pride.
