Udupi: Deputy Commissioner Vidya Kumari K has underscored the necessity of a strategic blueprint to enhance facilities and tourism potential on Daria Bahadur and Malti islands, situated near Malpe-Padukere. During a meeting of the District Tourism Development Committee, she pointed out that these unspoiled islands attract nature lovers, and well-planned amenities could significantly elevate their appeal.

She further emphasized the importance of upgrading tourist infrastructure at Someshwara Beach, suggesting improved vehicle parking and additional seating to enhance comfort for visitors. Addressing Trasi Beach, she noted that tenders invited for water-based adventure activities failed to draw any applicants. However, fresh proposals have emerged for combined river and ocean water sports. These will be evaluated, ensuring that participant safety is prioritized through mandatory third-party insurance.

To improve security, she instructed authorities to install streetlights along NH-66, particularly near Trasi Beach, reducing risks for travelers. She also mandated stricter enforcement of rental dues from shops, cottages, and tourism-related enterprises in the Malpe Beach region to prevent delays in payments.

Officials present at the discussion included MLAs Yashpal Suvarna and Gururaj Gantihole, Superintendent of Police Arun K, CMC Commissioner Uday Kumar Shetty, and Assistant Director of Tourism Kumar CU. Their collective inputs will shape the execution of these ambitious development initiatives.
