Rising animal bite cases and health concerns

Infant mortality and TB screening

Despite good medical facilities, 73 infant deaths were reported this year. A committee will be formed to investigate causes and suggest solutions. Additionally, 47,590 people were screened for tuberculosis, with 1,414 cases detected. The DC directed Gram Panchayats to ensure nutritional support under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana.

Crackdown on violations and mental health concerns

Strict action was ordered against hospitals failing to administer Hepatitis B vaccines within 24 hours of birth. Anti-tobacco laws are being enforced, with 11 shop licences revoked in Manipal. The DC also called for urgent measures to address rising youth suicides.
