The Udupi Traffic Police have mandated that city and service stage carriage bus owners must strictly adhere to regulations, including the removal of shrill horns by June 15, or face stringent action.

On June 5, Sub Inspector Sudarshan Doddamani met with bus owners following directives from senior officials who acted on public complaints. The PSI emphasized that vacuum horns, which cause shrill sounds, must be removed from all buses by June 15 as they are illegal and cause significant inconvenience to the public and other road users.

Additionally, bus owners were informed that playing music inside buses is prohibited, and music systems should not be kept inside as it violates the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules. Doddamani also mandated the installation of CCTV cameras inside buses, as required by the Central Motor Vehicle Rules.

Owners were made aware of complaints regarding drivers not stopping at the designated bus stand at Karavali Junction, instead picking up passengers from the roadside. They were instructed to ensure that drivers use the designated bus stand for picking up and dropping off passengers to facilitate the smooth movement of other vehicles.

Doddamani also reiterated that crew members must wear uniforms while on duty, avoid reckless driving, refrain from using mobile phones while driving, and must not be under the influence of alcohol.
