In a vibrant tribute to the Indian Armed Forces and in response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, the Rashtra Rakshana Samithi held a grand Tiranga Yatra in Udupi on May 20, under the banner of Operation Sindhoor Vijayotsav.
The march began at Jodukatte and culminated at the Jatka Stand, drawing a massive crowd carrying a 30-foot-long Indian tricolor. Participants offered floral tributes to the flag, and patriotic chants such as “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” reverberated through the streets, energizing the city with nationalist fervor.
Retired soldier Suresh Rao Barkur, addressing the crowd, emphasized India’s growing military might, saying, “We possess the world’s fourth-strongest army. Backed by visionary leadership, modern equipment, and unmatched courage, our forces are prepared for any challenge. Pakistan, reliant on external aid, has already felt the brunt of our retaliation. Should it provoke us again, it will be taught a harsh lesson it won’t forget.”
The event also featured several prominent personalities. Fr Praveen D’Souza of Mother of Sorrows Church, Col. F.A. Rodrigues, Dr. Sukanya Mary (former principal of Poorna Prajna Evening College), and Keshava Malpe, President of the Retired Soldiers Association, expressed strong messages of unity and national pride.
Political leaders like MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLAs Yashpal Suvarna, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Kiran Kodgi, Gururaj Gantihole, and several BJP leaders participated, reinforcing the importance of solidarity during national crises.
Vijetha Shetty anchored the program seamlessly.
