Udupi: An unidentified young man in critical condition was found on the pedestrian pathway outside Indrali Railway Station and was promptly rescued by social worker Nityananda Olkadu, with help from local auto drivers. He was immediately shifted to Ajjarakadu District Hospital for emergency medical care.
The youth, who remains unconscious, has not yet been identified, and his name and address are currently unknown. Hospital authorities have requested his family members or acquaintances to contact the Civil Aid Center at the district hospital to assist in identification and further care.
According to bystanders, the young man appeared to be attempting suicide by tying a belt around his neck. Passersby intervened just in time to prevent a tragedy. Witnesses also noted traces of blood coming from his mouth and nose, raising further concern about his physical state.
There is suspicion of drug use, which may have played a role in his condition and actions. Authorities are looking into his background while medical professionals continue treatment.
This incident has sparked concern in the local community over mental health awareness and substance abuse issues among youth.
