Udupi: The G Fresh Supermart was officially launched at Town Square, Shirva, on Thursday, April 24, with the inauguration led by Walter Nandalike, managing director of Daijiworld Media Network Pvt Ltd. The store opening began with a blessing from Dr Leslie Clifford D’Souza, parish priest of Our Lady of Health Church, Shirva.
In his address, Nandalike reflected on Pope Francis’s universal approach to faith and inclusivity. He lauded franchise owner Lawrence Rasquinha for embracing interfaith unity, inviting spiritual leaders from Hindu, Muslim, and Christian communities to be part of the occasion. “The Pope once said, Life is good if you’re happy; it’s better if others are happy because of you. Lawrence truly lives by this principle,” he noted.
He emphasized that quality and affordability must be the hallmark of the store. “If customers walk in happy and leave happier, that’s success,” he said. Applauding the young franchise couple, he encouraged youth to take bold entrepreneurial steps. “Fear keeps many dreams on hold. Act first, then talk,” he advised.
Religious leaders offered words of support and encouragement. Fr John Alfred Barboza, Shri Raghupathi Gundu Bhat, and Sirajuddin Zaini all emphasized unity, service, and dedication as pillars of success.
Also present were chartered accountant Lovel Monteiro, property owners Michael and Rosy D’Souza, and the franchise team – Lawrence Rasquinha and Felin Castelino – who were congratulated for their vision.
