Jayakar Suvarna, the esteemed Udupi district correspondent for Doordarshan, passed away on Monday night at the age of 69 due to a heart attack. Suvarna was a respected figure in the journalism community, having served as the former president of the District Working Journalists’ Association. He was also an active member of the Photographers’ Association (SKPA).

Suvarna’s contributions to journalism were significant, with a career marked by dedication and integrity. His loss is deeply felt by colleagues and the broader community. Known for his commitment to reporting and his active participation in professional associations, Suvarna left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, three children, and numerous relatives, who mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, and family member. The family has arranged for the final viewing to be held at his residence in Kalmady at 10:30 am, with the last rites to be conducted later on Tuesday.
