A tragic incident unfolded in Kundapur taluk on Sunday evening, August 25, when a powerful storm caused a tree to fall, killing a woman and her cattle near the Kenchanoor water tank.
The deceased, Sujatha Achari, 53, was the wife of Annappaiah Achari, a resident of Mailari in Kenchanoor village. The storm’s intensity led to the uprooting of the tree, which tragically fell on Sujatha and her cow as she attempted to bring the animal back from grazing around 5:30 pm.
The cow died instantly, and Sujatha sustained severe injuries. Despite being rushed to a private hospital in Kundapur, she was pronounced dead by doctors.
Annappaiah Achari, a laborer, is now left to mourn the loss of his wife, along with their three sons and a daughter. A case has been registered at the Kundapura Rural Police Station.
