A shocking act of robbery took place near WGSHA College, Manipal, on March 29, when a 51-year-old woman was attacked and had her gold chain snatched by an unknown individual.

The victim, Vasanthi, hailing from Parkala Post, Herga, is employed as an attender in the billing section of a private healthcare facility. She was on her way home after completing her evening shift at approximately 5:30 PM when the crime occurred.

As she walked behind WGSHA College, a masked perpetrator suddenly approached her from behind. Without warning, the assailant grabbed her forcefully by the neck, yanked off her 45-gram gold chain, and escaped within seconds. The stolen ornament is valued at nearly ₹3.5 lakh.

Startled by the sudden attack, Vasanthi sought help, and the police were alerted. Manipal police station has officially registered a case, and authorities have launched an intensive search operation to identify and apprehend the suspect.

Officials are analyzing CCTV footage from nearby areas and gathering eyewitness accounts to track down the offender.

Residents have been advised to remain vigilant, especially in isolated spots during late hours. Authorities urge the public to report any suspicious activities to help curb such crimes.
