A message scribbled on a ₹20 currency note has gone viral on social media, where a youth wrote “Anjali Yake College Barlilla” (Why didn’t Anjali come to college?). The note, found at a general store in the city, seems to be a failed attempt to send a message to the girl, ending up in public circulation instead.
Netizens are calling for strict action against the youth for defacing the note, a punishable offense under the law. Shopkeepers often reject such notes, as defacement shortens their usability. The RBI allows the exchange of torn or defaced notes at banks.
