New Project 2024 05 18t122700.577

In a proactive move, Deputy Commissioner Gangubai Mankar convened a crucial meeting in Kumta to address the progress of the NH-66 four-lane project in Karwar. During the session, Mankar directed National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials to expedite the project, especially focusing on the remaining 7.8 km stretch between Karwar and Bhatkal, as reported by the IRB company.

Furthermore, Mankar instructed public works officials to verify the status of the reported stretch and emphasized the urgent need for completion.

Highlighting critical issues stemming from unscientific civil work and inadequate underground drainage systems, Mankar stressed the significance of addressing these concerns promptly, particularly in low-lying areas like Majali, Araga, and Binaga. With the monsoon season approaching, immediate action is imperative to prevent water ingress into residential areas.

Moreover, Mankar underscored the importance of identifying accident-prone spots along the highway and implementing safety measures such as installing instruction boards, streetlights, and initiating service road construction where pending. Additionally, she called for the construction of underpasses and bus shelters at suitable locations to enhance safety and minimize public inconvenience during the ongoing four-lane highway works.
