A horrifying incident unfolded on a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus in Uttara Kannada when a man fatally murdered his former partner’s spouse. The suspect, Preetham D’Souza, stabbed Gangadhar near the Sirsi bus terminal before surrendering to the authorities.
Preetham had been in a decade-long relationship with Gangadhar’s wife before she married Gangadhar four months ago. Following her wedding, she distanced herself from Preetham, which allegedly fueled his resentment.
On Saturday, the couple boarded a bus heading to Bengaluru after attending a family gathering. Coincidentally, Preetham was on the same bus. Tensions escalated as an argument broke out between the two men. Overcome with rage, Preetham drew a knife and fatally wounded Gangadhar in front of shocked passengers.
Upon committing the crime, Preetham did not attempt to flee. Instead, he surrendered to the police, confessing his actions. Law enforcement officials swiftly took him into custody and initiated an inquiry into the case.
Meanwhile, Gangadhar’s lifeless body was transported to a government hospital for postmortem analysis. Investigators are also questioning his widow to gather additional details.
The brutal act, carried out in a public setting, has left commuters and residents deeply unsettled. Authorities are working to piece together the circumstances leading to the attack and determine whether it was premeditated.
