Karwar: On Friday, the Karnataka State Government Retired Employees Association, district unit, organized a protest march in Karwar, demanding revised pension facilities for employees who retired after July 2022, in line with the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.

The march began at the Retired Employees’ Association office and proceeded through the city’s main roads, culminating in a demonstration outside the District Collector’s office. The protesters sought immediate implementation of revised pensions, as outlined by the 7th Pay Commission, for those who retired between July 2022 and July 2024.

Raju Pujara, Assistant Director of the Land Records Department, accepted the petition on behalf of the district administration and acknowledged the necessity for pensions to be updated according to the latest pay commission report. He stressed that the outdated report should no longer apply to recent retirees.

The protest was led by key association members, including President VM Hegade, Secretary Anila Nayka, Honorary President Shivananda Kadam, Vice President Satish Gosavi, Treasurer VR Rane, and Mohana Nayka. The event highlighted the growing discontent among retirees seeking equitable pension benefits.
