Arjun Mooladikuzhiyil, a truck driver from Kozhikode, has been missing for four days following a landslide at Ankola in Karnataka. Efforts are ongoing to locate Arjun and others who went missing in the landslide on the national highway at Shirur on July 16. Arjun’s family remains hopeful for his safe return.

The Uttara Kannada district administration has enlisted the Coast Guard’s help in search operations. Despite clearing some debris, harsh terrain, heavy rain, and potential landslides in nearby areas have hindered progress. Search efforts paused on Friday night and resumed Saturday morning. Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Priya reported that seven bodies have been found, with three people, including Arjun, still missing. Assistance by helicopter has been delayed due to bad weather.

Ministerial-level interventions and joint efforts by Kerala and Karnataka authorities have raised hopes for Arjun’s family. Arjun, 30, from Kannadikkal, was traveling to Kozhikode from Jagalpet after loading timber. Witnesses say he stopped at a hotel in Shirur for tea when the landslide occurred. Arjun and his truck have been missing since then. His wife, Krishnapriya, remains hopeful, noting that his truck’s GPS signal was last received from the landslide spot.

The family reported Arjun’s disappearance to the Chevayur police and later learned of the landslide. They traveled to Ankola and found limited rescue efforts underway. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has requested his Karnataka counterpart to expedite the rescue operation and suggested using ground-penetrating radar. Kozhikode MP M K Raghavan has assured the family that the Karnataka CM promised to intensify the search.
