Karwar: Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Lakshmi Priya has served a notice to Tourism Department Deputy Director Jayanth after a hidden bedroom setup, complete with a cot and sofa set, was discovered inside the office building. The notice, dated February 17, gave him three days to respond.
The concealed space was uncovered when the tourism office on NH-66 was being relocated to the DC’s office to make way for hospital access. Since Jayanth was on official duty in Bengaluru, he had handed over charge to Karwar Assistant Commissioner Kanishka. During the shifting process, officials found the secret room hidden behind a door blocked by an almirah.
The revelation has sparked widespread curiosity. With Jayanth yet to respond, the district administration is considering further action, sources said.
