Six Arrested for Deer Poaching in Yallapur Reserved Forest

Yallapur: Forest department officials in Yallapur have arrested six individuals for hunting deer and collecting its meat in the reserved forest area on the outskirts of the town. The arrests were made on Saturday following a raid.

The arrested individuals are identified as Satish Parameshwara Nayka of Jankalajaddi taluk, Rustum Atelasaba Bepari of Udjaya Nagar, Shabbira Rustam Sheikh of Kalamma Nagar, Rafika Imamsaba of Yallur, Karim Khadarsaba Sheikh, and Shafi Khadarsaba Sheikh of Muhammad. Another accused, Prashantha Manjunatha Naik of Udjaya Nagar, is currently absconding.

The raid on Satish Naik’s house in Jankalajaddi, conducted based on specific information, led to the discovery of deer meat. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the animal had been hunted. Forest department officials stated that the search for the missing accused is ongoing.

During the operation, 4.5 kg of deer meat, two cars, and a gun used for hunting were seized from the accused. The operation was led by Yallapur RFO LA Math and his team under the guidance of DCF Harsha Banu GP.
