10-Year-Old Boy Killed in Maoist IED Blast in Chhattisgarh
Bijapur: A tragic incident occurred in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Saturday when a 10-year-old boy, Hidma Kawasi, was killed by a pressure IED planted by Maoists. The explosion happened around 2:30 p.m. while the boy was grazing goats near Pidiya Murumpara village.
According to police reports, Hidma was near a pressure IED connection, which detonated and severely injured his leg. His mother, who was a few meters away at the time, managed to escape unharmed. She alerted nearby villagers, who quickly carried the boy to the Mutvendi camp of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Due to the monsoon rains, crossing the flooded rivulets and difficult terrain delayed their arrival. The boy received preliminary treatment at the CRPF camp before being transferred to Bijapur district hospital around 6 p.m., after further delays crossing the Cherpal river, which was over its bridge. Despite the efforts, Hidma succumbed to his injuries.
This tragic event marks the sixth fatality due to IED explosions in Bijapur district over the past three-and-a-half months. The relentless violence in the region continues to impact innocent lives.
