RAIPUR: In a significant anti-Naxal operation, security forces killed at least 30 members of the banned CPI (Maoist) in two separate encounters in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region on Thursday. Deputy CM Vijay Sharma confirmed that 26 Naxalites were eliminated in Bijapur district during a Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign (TCOC) meeting in the remote jungles, while four more were killed in Kanker by BSF and DRG personnel.
One police jawan also lost his life in the Bijapur encounter. Security forces cornered the Maoists during their TCOC meet, leading to intense crossfire. Arms and explosives were seized from the site.
Sharma hailed the operation as a major success in curbing Naxal activities.
