In a significant step toward bridging the digital divide, mobile connectivity has finally reached the remote areas of Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district — long affected by Naxal activity. The administration is making a concerted push to extend essential services under various development schemes.

Recently, banking services and a health centre were introduced in the Pamed region, marking a shift toward inclusive access. Now, the Bandepara area of Kutru has received its first mobile tower, installed on May 31 under the Niyad Nellanar initiative and the central Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) scheme.

This crucial development brings mobile phone coverage to remote villages including Bandepara, Ambeli, Akalanka, Patakutru, and Uskapatnam. For youth preparing for competitive exams, the newfound internet access opens doors to online resources and digital opportunities.

Officials say the mobile connectivity is part of a broader strategy to integrate these regions with the mainstream. Over the past few months, Kutru has also seen improvements in security infrastructure, food grain distribution, drinking water, electricity, transport, and communication services.

These efforts reflect a determined move to uplift areas long isolated due to insurgency and lack of access.
