An encounter erupted between security personnel and Naxalites in Bijapur district on Wednesday morning, authorities confirmed.
Exchange of fire in West Bastar forests
The gunfight began in the west Bastar division forests when a joint security team was on an anti-Naxal operation, a senior police official said.
Personnel from the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF) and CoBRA, the elite wing of the CRPF, were part of the operation.
Intermittent firing continues
Police said an intermittent exchange of fire was still underway at the location.
