Four Naxalites Arrested in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh
On October 7, authorities arrested four Naxalites in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, in a significant crackdown on insurgent activities. The arrests occurred in two separate locations, with three individuals—Sukhram Podiam (32), Maniram Irpa (30), and Lachhindar Podiam (35)—taken into custody by a joint team from the District Reserve Guard and District Force in the Mirtur police station area. They were found in possession of a tiffin bomb, cordex wire, and electric wire.
The fourth suspect, Aaytu Oyam alias Munna Aaytu (35), was apprehended in a locality under Tarrem police jurisdiction. He is alleged to have planted an improvised explosive device (IED) that injured five Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel last month. This operation involved the Special Task Force (STF) and the elite CoBRA unit.
These recent arrests contribute to a larger effort in the Bastar administrative division, where more than 700 Naxalites have been captured this year, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat insurgency in the region.
