Bijapur: In a tragic incident, Maoists have reportedly killed a 55-year-old man, Kanhaiya Tati, on suspicions of him being a police informer. His body was discovered near a government school in Poshanpalli village under the Bhopalpatnam police station limits on Tuesday morning.

According to police sources, preliminary investigations suggest that Tati was abducted by Maoists and subsequently murdered with sharp-edged weapons after they accused him of providing information to the police. The police have initiated a search operation in the vicinity to locate the assailants and are conducting combing operations in the area.

This incident marks another grim statistic in the ongoing violence attributed to Maoist groups in the region. So far this year, a total of 51 individuals have lost their lives to Maoist-related violence across the Bastar division, which includes seven districts, Bijapur being one of them.
