A medical intern from Vijayapura, Karnataka, has found herself in legal trouble after allegedly sharing pro-Pakistan posts on her Instagram, sparking widespread outrage amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions.

The student, Tashawdh Farooqui Sheikh, enrolled at Al-Ameen Medical College, is under investigation by the Vijayapura police for posting inflammatory content. One of her controversial posts advised Pakistani friends to warn residents near the Indian-Pakistani border to relocate, with a message stating, “May Allah protect us all from India.” The post quickly gained traction online, leading to a public outcry.

The authorities have now opened a suo motu case under sections 152 and 197 of the Indian Penal Code, as the police seek to trace the origin and purpose of her messages. The medical student is currently completing her internship after finishing her medical studies.

In response to the backlash, Sheikh issued a public apology, acknowledging her mistake and emphasizing her patriotism. “I regret my thoughtless comments. As an Indian, I love my country and will not make such statements again,” she posted, affirming her allegiance to India.

The incident underscores the responsibility individuals bear when expressing opinions online during periods of national sensitivity, especially when geopolitical matters are at stake.
