In Bastar, Chhattisgarh, nine Maoists were killed in a gunfight with security personnel, according to a senior police official. The encounter took place around 10:30 AM in the forest area along the Dantewada-Bijapur border. The joint operation, involving the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was initiated based on intelligence about Maoist activity in the west Bastar division.

The gunfight lasted several hours, ending with the recovery of nine Maoist bodies, all dressed in uniform. A significant cache of weapons, including SLR rifles, .303 rifles, and .315 bore rifles, was seized from the scene.

Security personnel were reported safe, and the search operation is ongoing. This incident adds to the 154 Maoists reportedly killed in encounters with security forces in Chhattisgarh this year. The operation also involved the destruction of Maoist camps and is part of a broader effort against Maoist insurgents in the region.
