Robbers enter home in Vijayapura, stab man, rob gold and throw him off first floor
Santosh Kannal, a 30-year-old resident of Jainapur Layout in Vijayapura city, passed away on the night of February 4 at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru. Santosh had been severely injured during a dacoity on January 16, where armed assailants broke into his rented home, stabbed him, and threw him from the first floor, escaping with his gold chain.
Initially rushed to the district civil hospital, Santosh was later transferred to BLDE hospital where it was discovered that his kidney had been severely damaged due to the stabbing. Due to financial constraints, his family moved him to Victoria Hospital for continued treatment in the ICU, but he succumbed to his injuries after weeks of struggle.
Santosh, originally from Dindawar village, had been working for a private courier company and was married with a child. After his passing, his body was returned to his village, where his family performed the last rites.
Vijayapura’s Industries Minister MB Patil expressed his condolences and took steps to ensure the safe transport of Santosh’s remains. He spoke with Vijayapura SP Laxman Nimbargi to gather details, and Mahantesh Biradar, the PRO of BLDE Society, coordinated the arrangements.
