In a brutal act of violence, a 38-year-old tribal man, Kawasi Hunga, was hacked to death by suspected Maoists late Tuesday night in Perampalli village, Usoor region of Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. Police confirmed that 4–5 assailants, dressed in civilian clothes, stormed into the village around midnight and accused Hunga of being a police informant before killing him with sharp weapons.
According to officials, the attackers fled immediately after the assault. A case has been registered, and a manhunt is underway to locate the perpetrators. Police from Usoor station reached the village early Wednesday, recovered the body, and completed necessary legal formalities.
Security forces have launched intensified search operations across the dense forested region, a known Naxal stronghold, to locate the group involved. Officials condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly act targeting a civilian under a false pretext.
The killing has raised fresh concerns over civilian safety in remote Naxal-affected areas. Authorities have urged locals to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement, assuring strong action against those trying to destabilize peace.
