In Karnataka’s Mangaluru, a voter has been booked by the police for sharing a photo of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in an attempt to influence others.

The incident occurred between 7 am and 10 am, when the voter, after casting his vote, took a picture of the EVM and shared it on a WhatsApp group. The photo quickly spread across various platforms, prompting a joint investigation by the Flying Squad Team (FST) and the police.

An FIR has been filed against the individual for allegedly unduly influencing the election process and violating official orders that prohibit the use of mobile phones inside polling booths.

The FIR was registered under IPC sections 171F and 123, the Representation of the People Act (RP Act), and IPC section 188. The case will be further investigated by the police and submitted to the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) in Puttur for further legal proceedings.
