Backward Classes Stage Protest Against Governor’s Action in Yadgiri
In Narayanpur, hundreds of activists from the Karnataka Exploited Communities Maha Union and the Karnataka State Backward Castes Union, along with Congress party leaders, staged a fiery protest on Sunday against the Governor’s decision to permit the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The protest march, which began at Bhakta Kanakadasa Circle and culminated at Maharshi Valmiki Circle, featured activists shouting slogans against the central government, the BJP, and the JD(S) alliance parties. Leaders Ravichandra Ananda Sahukara and Beeralinga Ninganna Badyapura addressed the gathering, expressing their outrage and condemnation of the Governor’s decision.
In a symbolic gesture, protesters set fire to a tyre at Maharshi Valmiki Circle to demonstrate their discontent. A letter of appeal was also submitted to the President through Kallappa Janjigaddi, Deputy Tahsildar of Kodekal Nada Office, seeking intervention in the matter.
The protest underscores the growing tensions between the state government and the Governor, with many viewing the decision to allow prosecution as a politically motivated move.
