Heavy Vehicle Movement Banned on Old Bhima River Bridge Due to Deterioration
Yadgiri: The movement of heavy vehicles has been banned on the old Bhima River bridge located on the state highway from Gurusunigi Cross in Vadagera taluk to Yadgiri city. This decision follows concerns raised by Public Works Department (PWD) officials about the deteriorating condition of the bridge. The structural integrity of the bridge has been compromised by landslides near the adjacent railway bridge and the erosion of the road surface over the old structure.
To ensure public safety, authorities have directed heavy vehicles to use a newly constructed bridge over the Bhima River, with traffic being diverted through a nearby barrage. Police personnel have been stationed at Gurusunigi village cross to set up barricades and guide vehicles onto the new route.
The old bridge has been in service for many years, but recent landslides have worsened its condition, making it unsafe for continued use by heavy vehicles. The ban is a preventive step to avoid potential accidents or further damage to the bridge.
Commuters are advised to follow the diversion and use the new bridge for their own safety. The authorities will monitor the situation closely and take additional precautions as necessary. The new bridge and traffic diversion are expected to improve the commute for residents and travelers between Vadagera and Yadgiri city.
Public cooperation in adhering to the new traffic guidelines is essential to ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic.
