The II PUC results for the academic year 2024-25 were declared on Tuesday, once again highlighting the consistent academic dominance of girls over boys. This year, girls outperformed boys by a significant 9.68%, with 77.88% of girls (2,69,212) passing, compared to 68.20% of boys (1,99,227).
Girls not only achieved a higher pass percentage but also swept the top ranks in all three streams—Science, Commerce, and Arts. All stream toppers were girls. Remarkably, in the Arts stream, all top 10 scorers were girls, while in Science and Commerce, eight and seven girls, respectively, made it to the top 10.
Udupi tops, Yadgir trails
Udupi district emerged as the best-performing region with a stellar pass rate of 93.90%, followed by Dakshina Kannada (93.57%), Bengaluru South (85.36%), Kodagu (83.84%), and Bengaluru North (83.31%).
Yadgir, consistent with past trends, came last with a pass percentage of 48.45%, followed by Kalburgi (55.70%), Raichur (58.75%), Vijayapura (58.81%), and Chitradurga (59.87%).
Record high centums in Kannada
This year saw a record 5,414 students scoring 100 in Kannada. Mathematics followed with 4,038, Sanskrit with 2,536, Biology 2,346, Statistics 2,013, and Computer Science 1,137.
Special achievers shine
Among students with special needs, those with Autism recorded the highest pass rate at 75.56%. Others who cleared the exam included students with visual and hearing impairments, cerebral palsy, and learning disabilities.
