Yuzvendra Chahal, the 34-year-old Indian cricketer, addressed recent speculations surrounding his personal life in a lengthy Instagram post, urging his fans to refrain from indulging in gossip. The post came just hours after his wife, Dhanashree Verma, responded to divorce rumours with a statement condemning the online hate.
In his message, Chahal did not directly mention his wife but expressed the emotional toll the rumours had taken on him and his family. He acknowledged the curiosity around his personal life but asked his followers not to believe the social media posts that have caused immense pain. “Certain social media posts speculating on matters that may or may not be true have caused me and my family immense pain,” Chahal wrote.
He further explained that his journey as a sportsman was ongoing and emphasized his commitment to his career. “While I am proud to be a sportsman, I am also a son, a brother, and a friend,” Chahal said, urging people to respect his family’s privacy and refrain from speculation.
Chahal also expressed his gratitude towards his supporters, stating that their unwavering love had been integral to his success. He concluded by reinforcing his commitment to his family values, including the importance of hard work, dedication, and maintaining integrity.
Dhanashree Verma had also addressed the rumours earlier, calling out the “character assassination” by “faceless trolls” and stating that her silence was a sign of strength, not weakness.
