An elderly couple was found dead on the railway tracks passing through Karigowda Extension near the KSRTC bus stand in Hassan city on Saturday night.
The deceased have been identified as Daniel, 85, and his wife Mary Daniel, 84. The couple were residents of Chowdenanahalli near Shanivarasanthe in Somwarpet taluk of Kodagu district.
Bodies discovered near Karigowda Extension
According to initial information, the bodies were spotted on the railway track that runs close to the busy bus stand area in Karigowda Extension. Local authorities were alerted soon after the discovery, and police personnel reached the spot to begin preliminary procedures.
The circumstances leading to the couple’s death are yet to be officially confirmed. Police have initiated an inquiry to ascertain whether the incident was accidental or otherwise. The bodies were shifted for post-mortem examination.
