Madikeri: A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Nittoor, Kodagu, where a farmer, Kottagada Poonachcha, 72, lost his life following a sudden bee attack near the Bhairava Temple. Police reported that he was returning home after working in his estate when he encountered a swarm of bees.
Despite his cries for help, it was too late for Poonachcha. Temple committee president Mechanda Vasu Somaiah and secretary Kottagada Madhu, who were present at the temple, rushed to assist him but were also attacked by the bees in the process.
Poonachcha was immediately taken to Balele Primary Health Centre for first aid. However, as he was being transferred to Gonikoppal hospital for further treatment, he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased is survived by his wife and two children. A case has been registered at the Ponnampet police station.
