Madikeri: In a remarkable display of patriotism, Jammada Preet Appiah, a resident of Gonikoppal in South Kodagu, has brought immense pride to the state by hoisting the Indian flag atop Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe and Russia, on Independence Day.

An accomplished mountaineer, Preet Appiah has scaled numerous peaks in the past, with her recent ascent to the 5,642-meter summit of Mount Elbrus being her most significant achievement yet.

This feat has secured her place in history as the second woman from Karnataka and the second from Kodagu to conquer the formidable mountain. The first was Thekkada Bhawani of Peruru village near Napoklu, who achieved this milestone in 2012.

Preet Appiah’s extraordinary accomplishment has not only made Kodagu and Karnataka proud but has also inspired countless individuals to pursue their dreams and push their limits.
