A three-storey building near Dandu Road in Bangarapet, Kolar district, Karnataka, collapsed on Friday during renovation work. The building, owned by Raj Kumar, had been abandoned for two months before the incident. The collapse occurred while renovations were underway on the ground floor, leading to significant damage to the surrounding compound of a nearby private school.
Fortunately, fire brigade personnel were quick to evacuate three families residing in the building, and no casualties or injuries were reported. Authorities have registered a complaint, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the collapse. The building had been vacant for a while, and further details regarding the incident are awaited.
In a separate incident, a recent under-construction building collapse in Bengaluru claimed the lives of nine individuals, highlighting the dangers posed by construction-site safety issues. The building, in the Horamavu Agara area, collapsed rapidly, with workers seen moving on the ground floor at the time of the incident.
