KOLAR: In a heartbreaking workplace accident near Kshetrenahalli in Tekal Hobli of Malur taluk, a 35-year-old labourer from West Bengal lost his life after being caught in a stone crusher machine.

The deceased, identified as Nanda Lal, was a migrant worker employed at Aishwarya Crusher, owned by Venkatesh Gowda. According to initial reports, he suffered grievous injuries after being trapped in the machinery and died on the spot.

Following the incident, his body was shifted to R.L. Jalappa Hospital, where a post-mortem examination was conducted.

Officials from Masti Police Station visited the site, carried out a detailed inspection, and have registered a case. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal mishap.

The incident has raised concerns over worker safety and the conditions at stone crushing units that rely heavily on migrant labour.
