The Mulbagal police have arrested seven individuals, including four juveniles, in connection with the murder of Divya Shree, a 46-year-old government school teacher. The tragic incident occurred on August 14 in Mudianur, Mulbagal Town.
Kolar Superintendent of Police Nikhil B reported that the attack took place on Wednesday evening when the perpetrators attempted a robbery at Divya Shree’s home in Sunku Layout. During the attack, the assailants slit Divya Shree’s throat. At the time, her daughter, Nisha, was at home while her husband, Padbhana Shetty, was away.
Nisha heard the commotion and discovered her mother lying in a pool of blood. In a desperate move, she managed to lock herself in a room and called her father. Meanwhile, the assailants fled the scene before police arrived.
The arrested suspects include Ranjith Kumar (20) from Tirumana Halli, Yuvaraj (18) from Kondanahalli, and Shaheed Pasha (18) from Nangli. The police are still searching for other individuals involved in the crime. Central Range Inspector General of Police Labhu Ram confirmed that the arrests were made after reviewing CCTV footage and cellular call records.
The investigation revealed that Ranjith Kumar, who supplied purified water to local households, including the victim’s, was aware of the family’s wealth. He devised a plan to kill Divya Shree and rob the house, promising his accomplices a share of the stolen cash and valuables.
