A shocking incident unfolded in Chambarasabahalli, Kolar district, where a 19-year-old newlywed woman named Likitha was allegedly murdered by her husband, Naveen, just hours after their wedding on Wednesday evening. The couple had tied the knot earlier that day and were spending time with their relatives at a marriage hall in Kolar Gold Fields (KGF).
After the ceremony, Naveen, 27, took Likitha and her in-laws to his uncle’s house, where they were served refreshments. Shortly thereafter, Naveen and Likitha went into a room alone. Moments later, the family heard screams and, peering through a window, witnessed Naveen attacking Likitha with a machete.
Family members desperately tried to break open the door, but by the time they succeeded, they found Likitha lying in a pool of blood. Naveen, who had also sustained injuries, was found near her. An ambulance was called, but due to a delay, the couple was rushed to R L Jalappa Hospital in an auto-rickshaw. Unfortunately, Likitha was declared dead on arrival, while Naveen was admitted in critical condition.
The Andersonpet police have registered a case of murder and are investigating the motive behind the tragic incident. The police are still trying to determine how Naveen obtained the machete and what triggered the violent outburst. Naveen, who owned a cloth shop, remains under medical care, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
