KSRTC brings digital ticketing to Kodagu district
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced digital payment options for passengers in Kodagu district, simplifying the ticket-buying process. This move follows its successful implementation in cities like Bengaluru and Mysuru.
Previously, passengers relied on cash transactions, often leading to issues with providing change. Now, commuters can scan a QR code with the conductor to pay digitally, eliminating such challenges. KSRTC has equipped 228 drivers and conductors in the Puthur division with UPI systems, resolving frequent disputes between passengers and operators.
Madikeri Unit Manager M A Mehboob Ali explained that each conductor has a dedicated QR code. Passengers simply inquire about the ticket price and transfer the fare. Once payment is made, a confirmation message is sent to the conductor’s mobile.
In areas with poor network connectivity, cash payments will still be accepted, ensuring flexibility for passengers. Operators have undergone training to handle the digital system, making the transition seamless and beneficial for both parties.
The initiative aims to enhance convenience, reduce cash-related issues, and modernize the ticketing process across the district.
