In a country like India, where chai is a beloved daily ritual, the thought of paying ₹1 lakh for a cup might seem unthinkable. However, a cafe in Dubai, Boho Cfe, has redefined indulgence with its ‘Gold Karak’ tea, priced at an astonishing ₹1 lakh.
Owned by Indian-origin restaurateur Sucheta Sharma, the cafe located in DIFC’s Emirates Financial Towers serves this opulent beverage with a 24-carat gold leaf garnish. The tea is presented in pure silver cutlery, topped with gold dust and accompanied by a gold-dusted croissant, making the experience a feast for the eyes as much as the palate.
A video shared by a food vlogger has gone viral, showcasing the lavish presentation. The extravagant drink has triggered a lively debate on social media. Comments ranged from humorous to critical, with one user quipping, “Bhai, chai peene ke liye bhi EMI deni padegi” (Do we need to pay EMIs to drink tea?). Another joked, “Do I have to declare this to customs after drinking it?”
While some see it as an unnecessary display of wealth, others view it as an innovative experiment in luxury dining. The Gold Karak tea has undoubtedly piqued curiosity among tea lovers worldwide, with many questioning whether sipping gold is worth the price.
What’s your opinion? Would you indulge in this golden brew, or does this redefine extravagance for you?
